- Is there a charge to meet with the attorney for the first time?
-
For most cases, we charge an initial consultation fee of $150. Generally, if you hire us, the $150 will be credited towards your legal fee.
- Can you answer my legal questions over the phone for free?
-
We cannot provide legal advice over the phone, unless the caller first enters into an agreement to conduct a paid consultation over the phone. We cannot provide any legal advice until we have established an attorney-client relationship.
- Why do I have to pay $150 to ask a simple question to the attorney?
-
From our experience, there are rarely simple answers to legal questions. We get many phone calls a day requesting free legal advice. In order to control the quality of our service, we have to reserve time for our paid clients.
- Can I have you write my papers and I’ll represent myself in court to save money?
-
No. Attorney ethics rules prohibit attorneys from “ghost-writing” for others.
- Do I need to make an appointment to come in?
-
Yes. We operate on a by-appointment basis even during regular office hours. If you come in without an appointment, we cannot guarantee that we will not be in court, with another client, or working on another client’s matter.
- Other attorneys give free consultations. Why don’t you give free consultations?
-
We are independent from other attorney’s practices. We strive to provide quality advice during consultations, and our capacity to provide such session are limited to the number of working hours of the attorney. If we provide free consultations to everyone who calls, we would not have any time left for any actual cases.
- If you charge hourly, how do I know that you are really spending the time on my case?
-
Retaining an attorney is an important decision. Whether it be for the quality of the attorney’s work or the attorney’s integrity, only you can decide whether you can establish a trusted relationship with your attorney. Our office is not into the practice of inflating client hours. If you must, as a paid client, you can always request slots of times to observe the attorney while she is working on your case.
